Magellan Advisors Awarded Contract for Regional Broadband Master Plan from Gateway (CA) Cities Council of Governments
The Gateway (CA) Cities Council of Governments (GCCOG) has awarded Magellan Advisors a contract to conduct a regional broadband master plan for its Los Angeles County communities. GCCOG is comprised of 27 cities and 12 unincorporated communities, encompassing 2.1 million residents and 76,000 businesses. It is considered the most densely populated sub-region in California, and community leaders seek to develop a plan to ensure access to high-speed internet for residents and businesses that will position them for success in the digital age.
Magellan will inventory existing broadband infrastructure, service availability and adoption to identify and fill gaps in broadband service. The resulting plan will propose solutions to assist in closing the digital divide for residents and deploying fiber-optic based broadband services that will enable economic development and improved quality of life. The project is set to be complete in the second half of 2022.
