Magellan Advisors Receives Broadband Feasibility Study Contract from the City of Kingsville, Texas
Magellan Advisors has been awarded a contract from the City of Kingsville, Texas, to conduct a broadband feasibility study that will include identifying current issues and gaps in service throughout the community. The results will help determine the need and feasibility of possible creation of a municipal-owned fiber network with gigabit fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) service capabilities. Located near Corpus Christi, Kingsville is the county seat of Kleberg County covering 15 square miles and has a population of 26,000 with approximately 10,000 homes.
Magellan’s comprehensive market analysis will include details on the current broadband environment, including updated maps of availability, speeds and providers. Magellan also will evaluate Kingsville’s existing early design for connecting their 12 municipal sites and passing well over 10,000 fiber-to-the-premise (FTTP) locations, both businesses and residences. The study is scheduled to begin in January and be completed in the first half of 2022.
